Reports to: Director of Therapeutic Wellness Services & Senior Credible Clinician
Position Summary
LIFE Camp provides positive alternatives to youth violence and provides therapeutic wellness services to assist youth and families who are impacted by violence, poverty, racism and other forms of intergenerational trauma.
We approach violence as a public health crisis -- providing unconventional therapeutic wellness services (from yoga, meditation, mindfulness, art/music therapy, therapeutic coaching, nutritional counseling and other forms of holistic practices) to give individuals the tools to help them make peace a LIFEstyle and restore their overall wellbeing.
Our team of violence intervention and prevention specialists are called “Credible Messengers,” because of their lived experience and ability to connect with and motivate the most at-risk youth to successfully transform destructive thinking, attitudes and actions.
To that end, Credible Clinicians are those with years of hands on experience in the fields of wellness, who are able to connect with high risk community members to and provide culturally relevant wellness practices that will help them overcome the impact of trauma and/or reduce the risk of becoming a perpetrator of violence.
Credible clinicians work directly with youth, adults, community members at large to offer critical wrap-around services as well as provide support LIFE Camp’s team of Credible Messengers.
Position Responsibilities
Ensure all participants and families of victims experience timely intake and application of therapeutic services.
Complete and submit bi-weekly reports and data collected from clients progress and activities.
Assist in the operations of all therapeutic wellness and family support programs, including but not limited to evaluations and outcomes.
Provide support to the Director of Therapeutic Wellness Services and Senior Credible Clinician as needed, to ensure the success of the department.
Collaborate with Therapeutic Wellness team to support all LIFE Camp staff as it relates to providing services that assist in their stress reduction
Participate and complete all mandatory trainings required to maintain compliance with agency expectations and guidelines.
Support the supervision and leadership of Interns.
Assist in developing strategic alliances and collaborative partnerships with therapeutic and wellness providers
Assist in the planning and/or facilitation of community education events and trainings led by the Therapeutic Wellness Department.
Collaborate and connect with outside agencies regarding additional therapeutic services
Represent LIFE Camp in the community, with all City Agency partners as required, promoting the organization's effective unconventional therapeutic services.
Drive LIFE Camp’s success through modeling collaboration, communication, and knowledge sharing with all teammates to improve team and organizational results.
Create and maintain systems to track wellness services to all participants, staff and community.
Maintain detailed documentation and progress notes for all therapeutic services recipients.
Gather all information necessary to consent for therapeutic treatment and participation in wellness services.
Identify Community resources and make service linkages in collaboration with treatment when directed by supervisors.
Follow up with referrals made to partnering providers and update progress notes.
Plan community education events and trainings led by the Therapeutic Wellness Department.
Preferred Skills
LMSW, LCSW, MSW or an MA in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Youth Development or Family Therapy or minimum 5 years experience providing professional therapeutic wellness services
A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by coursework in psychology, sociology, anthropology and/or related disciplines, plus one year of full-time paid experience assisting in either the evaluation, development, implementation or direct work in health and wellness.
Experience working with and understanding of the needs of communities of color and the impacts of trauma, violence and poverty on wellness and quality of life
Understanding of mental health, public health and public safety
Understanding of trauma-informed services and case management
Experience with marketing, fundraising, and creating proposals
Experience with event production and coordination
Ability to meet timeframes and deadlines and ensure services are provided in a timely and professional manner
Understanding and experience working with high risk youth and their families.
Capacity for creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, and violence prevention;
Self-motivation, initiative, sound judgement, and commitment to ongoing learning;
Demonstrated expertise in public speaking, coaching and training.
Ability to motivate and inspire staff
Qualification Requirements
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a variety of therapeutic wellness services. Relevant professional experience includes:
Trauma Informed Care
Holistic Wellness
Grief Counseling
Personal Development Coaching
Other
(Certifications in any of these areas a plus)
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and 4+ years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above;
High school graduate or equivalent and 10+ years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above
Education and/or experience which is equivalent to the above.
